Peter Kinsy (Kinsey) was born on 26 June, 1803 in Hochspeyer, Pfalz, Bayern. Peter

married his first wife, Anna Barbara Reh in 1829. Anna was christened on 20 October,

1802 and was buried on 9 March 1831, in Trippstadt, Bavaria.

Peter married his second wife, Elisabetha Reh, in Bavaria before immigrating to

America. Elizabeth was born on 12 August, 1810. They were married in 1832. 

Peter was a listed as a gardener on the 1850 census. In 1860 was working as a farmer

and was a resident in the Jamaica area of New York, until his death in 1868. Peter

became a citizen on 18 October, 1860. Peter died on 29 July, 1868. Elizabeth died on 27

June, 1876. Peter and Elizabeth are buried at the Old Springfield Cemetery, Springfield

Gardens, Queens, New York. Peter had twelve Children with Anna and Elizabeth.

1: Elisabetha Kinsy (Kinsey) was christened on 18 February, 1829, Trippstadt,

Bayern.

2: Kinzy (Male) was born on 18 February. 1831, Trippstadt, Bayern. He died on 19

February, 1831. He was one day old.

Ten Children of Peter and Elizabeth Reh:

1: Jacob Kinsey was born in c.1832, in Bayern. Jacob married Ellen Wyckoff

Mount about March c.1869 in Queens, New York. Ellen was born on 3 December,

1840 and was baptized on 9 March, 1841, at the Third Street Reformed Dutch

Church of Manhattan. They were married about March c.1869. Jacob was a farmer

as listed on the 1870 census, until his death in 1905. Jamaica farmer. Jacob’s farm

was located on Fosters Meadow Road in Jamaica, south of Springfield, New York.

Jacob Death died on 8 February, 1905 in Rosedale, New York. Ellen died on 20

February, 1923. Jacob and Ellen are buried at the Saint John's Cemetery, Valley

Stream, New York. They had seven children together.

i: Mary Ellen Kinsey was born on 22 March,1870. Mary Ellen married

Foster Rumph on December, 30, 1891. Foster was born in 1868. Foster

was a farm laborer and farmer from 1900 up to 1920. On the 1920 census,

he was a salesman for a fertilizer company. In 1930, he is listed as being

retired. Mary died on 30 May, 1942. Foster died in c.1958. Mary and Foster

are buried at the Old Springfield Cemetery, Springfield Gardens, New York.

Mary and Foster had two daughters together.

ii: Jacob Kinsey Jr. was born on 13 March, 1872. Jacob was a farmer in the

Jamaica area of New York. Jacob died on 20 May, 1907. He is buried at the

St. John’s Cemetery, Valley Stream, New York. Jacob was single when he

died.

iii: Richard Mount Kinsey was born on 19 February, 1874. Richard married

his first wife, Blanche Adaline Watts, on 16 November, 1907. Blanche died

on 29 December, 1908. Blanche died one day after her son Richard was

born on December 28 th , 1908. She is buried in the Old Springfield Cemetery,

Springfield Gardens, New York. Richard and Blanche had one son together.

Richard married his second wife, Carrie Bertha Cornell, on 21 November,

1910. On the 1910 census, before he married Carrie Cornell, Richard was

living with his mother, Ellen Hinsey, in the Borough of Queens, New York.

He was listed as a produce dealer in 1910. On the 1920 and 1930 census

documents, there is no occupation listed. The 1940 census, Richad was

working as a farm produce salesman. Richard died on 30 June, 1948.

Carrie died on 20 September, 1956. Richard and Carrie are buried at the

Old Springfield Cemetery, Springfield Gardens, New York. No children

located.

iv: Frank Atwater Kinsey Sr. was born on 23 May, 1876. Frank married Alice

Rider Higbie on 22 November, 1911. On the 1915 census, Frank, Alice their

five-year-old son and two-year-old daughter were living with his mother in

Springfield, New York. Frank was listed as a farmer. In 1920, he was a

“market man”. Frank was retired on the 1930 census. Frank was working as

a landscape gardener in 1940. He was again working as a farmer in 1950.

Frank died on 5 December, 1969. Alice died on 16 October, 1978. Frank

and Alice are buried at the Union Cemetery, Sayville, New York. Frank and

Alice had three sons and two daughters together.

v: Jesse Kinsey was born in c.1878. He was two years old on the 1880

census. Jesse was four years and three months old when died. He is buried

at the St. John’s Methodist Church Cemetery, Valley Stream. New York.

The inscription on his headstone reads, “OUR DARLING BOY. LITTLE

JESSE KINSEY. AGE 4 YEARS & 3 MONTHS”.

vi: Lillian Kinsey was born in March, 1882. Lillian lived with her mother until

1923 when her mother died. From the mid 1920’s through the 1940 census,

Lillian lived with her sister, Grace. They lived in Springfield Gardens, New

York. Lillian died on 4 April, 1961. Lillian is buried at the St. John’s

Methodist Church Cemetery, Valley Stream, New York. She never married.

vii: Grace Kinsey was born in September, 1885. Grace lived with her mother

until 1923, when her mother died. From the mid 1920’s through the 1940

census, Grace lived with her sister, Lillian. They lived in Springfield

Gardens, New York. Grace died in 1964. Grace is buried at the St. John’s

Methodist Church Cemetery, Valley Stream, New York. She never married.

2: Catherine Kinsey (Kinsy) was born on 2 January, 1834 in Bayern. Catherine

married Frederick P. Loerz in c.1855. Frederick was born on 11 May, 1833. In

1870 Frederick was working as a miller. On the 1892 census he was listed as a

farmer. On his death certificate, his occupation was a pond keeper. Catherine died

on 5 December, 1889. Frederick was 71 years, 6 months, and 2 days old when he

died on 14 November, 1904. Catherine and Frederick are buried at the St. John’s

Methodist Church Cemetery, Valley Stream, New York. Catherine and Frederick

had four children.

i: Katherine Loerz was born on 26 November, 1856. Katherine lived with her

parents until her father’s death in 1904. Katherine then lived with her brother

William, and her sister, Mary, in April of 1910. Katherine and Mary continued

to live together after William died in November, 1910. Katherine died on 23

November, 1917. Katherine is buried at the St. John’s Methodist Church

Cemetery, Valley Stream, New York.

ii: William H. Loerz was born on 27 August, 1858. William was living with his

father in Jamaica, New York in 1892 and 1900, where he was working as a

farmer. On the 1910 census, he was living with his sisters and was living on

his own income. William died on 1 November, 1910. William is buried at the

St. John’s Methodist Church Cemetery, Valley Stream, New York.

iii: Charles Loerz was born on 18 November, 1863. In 1880, he was living

with his father working as a farmer. Charles died on 11 May, 1886. He was

23 years old and was single. He is buried at the St. John’s Methodist

Church Cemetery, Valley Stream, New York.

iv: Mary E. Loerz was born on 26 November, 1856. Mary lived with her

parents until her father’s death in 1904. Mary then lived with her brother

William, and her sister, Katherine, in April of 1910. Mary and Katherine lived

together after William died in November, 1910. They lived together until

Katherine’s death in 1917. Mary married Charles Traenkle on 23 March,

1918. Mary was fifty years old when she married Charles, age thirty-seven.

No additional information on Mary after the marriage.

3: Henry Kinsey was born on 15 April, 1836, in Bayern. Elizabeth Jacobs (Jacoby)

was born on 22 January, 1830, in Germany. Henry and Elizabeth were married

c.1861. Census documents had Henry living and working as a farmer in Jamaica,

New York. Henry died on 8 December, 1898. Elizabeth died on 14 June, 1907.

Henry and Elizabeth are buried at the St. John’s Methodist Church Cemetery,

Valley Stream, New York. They had one son together.

i: Frederick H Kinsey was born on 21 June, 1861. Frederick married

Caroline (known as Carrie) A. Baylis on 12 October, 1887. Carrie was born

in April, 1868. Frederick was a farmer in Queens until his death in 1908.

Frederick died on 4 April 1908 and he buried at the St. John’s Methodist

Church Cemetery, Valley Stream, New York. Frederick and Carrie had one

son together. Carrie died on 23 January, 1952, under her second married

name of Shipley. She is buried at the Bay View Cemetery, Leonardo, New

Jersey. Frederick and Carrie had one son together.

4: John R. Kinsey was born on 26 August 1839. John married Mary Rebecca

Furman (Ferman) in c.1862. The censuses from 1870 to 1910 had John working

as a farmer in Jamaica, New York. His farm was on Springfield Avenue in Jamaica.

John died on 2 March 1923. Mary died on 6 February 1910. John and Mary are

buried at the Old Springfield Cemetery, Springfield Gardens, New York. John and

Mary had four children together.

i: William Wood Kinsey was born on 10 July. 1862. William married

Catherine Leibrock on the 8 January, 1908. Catherine was born in c.1872.

This was William’s second marriage. No information found on the first

marriage. In 1910, William was a stage driver and was living in Springfield

Gardens, New York. The 1920 has William working as a truck framer in

Springfield Gardens. William died on 21 June, 1920. William is buried at the

Old Springfield Cemetery, Springfield Gardens, New York. William and

Catherine had no children.

ii: Catharine A. Kinsey was born on 12 October, 1864. Catherine married

William Wood in c.1886. William was a farmer from 1892 to the 1910

census. Catherine and William were living on Springfield Avenue in Queens,

New York. In 1910 William was living on his own income. On the 1920

census William was a school stage driver. In 1930 William was retired in

Springfield Gardens. Catherine died on 18 April, 1932. Catherine was living

on Farmers Boulevard, Springfield Gardens, Queens, New York. Catherine

buried at the Old Springfield Cemetery, Springfield Gardens, New York.

iii: Jacob H. Kinsey was born on 11 January, 1866. Jacob married Johanna

Canning in c.1889. In 1900, Jacob was an engineer, Cortlandt,

Westchester, New York. The 1910 census has Jacob and Johanna living

with his father on Springfield Avenue in Queens, New York and he was a

school stage diver. In 1915 he was a power house water tender and in 1920

he was an assistant engineer in a boiler room. Jacob died on 2 March,

1925. Jacob is buried at the Old Springfield Cemetery, Springfield Gardens,

New York. Johanna died on 27 June, 1954. Jacob and Johanna had no

children.

iv: George Andrew Kinsey was born 26 July, 1868. George married Harriet

“Hattie” Atwood Bisbee on 19 April, 1899. George was a farmer in 1900 and

living with his parents on Springfield Avenue in Queens, New York. George

was married but not living with wife on the 1900 census. Hattie in 1900,

George’s wife, was living with her father in Queens. George was general

contractor living on College Avenue in Queens, New York. In 1920, George

was a farmer in Shandaken, New York. On the 1930 census, George was

proprietor of boarding house in Shandaken and his wife Hattie was the

manager. George was retired in 1940. George died on 5 February, 1943.

George is buried at the Old Springfield Cemetery, Springfield Gardens, New

York. Harriett died on 16 February, 1966, at Crooked Brook, New York.

George and Harriett had three sons together.

5: David Kinsey was born on 4 September, 1843. Married Catherine Gruber

Catherine’s maiden name, Gruber is found on seven baptismal documents in the

St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church records, Elmont, New York. Catherine was born on

19 February 1848. David was a farmer in Jamaica, New York from 1880 until his

death in 1898. David died on 16 July, 1898. Catherine died on 9 January 1923.

David and Catherine are buried at the Greenfield Cemetery, Uniondale, New York.

They had ten children together.

i: Peter Kinsey was born in August, 1869. Peter married Anna A. Wright in

c.1891. Anna was born in May, 1870. Peter was a farmer in Hempstead in

from 1892 into the 1900’s. Anna is listed as a widow on the 1910 census.

Peter died before 1910. No additional information for Peter or Anna found.

Peter and Anna had two sons.

ii: George Kinsey was born on October, 1870. George married Jennie

(Jane) Harris Newsom on 24 November, 1892. The 1900 through the 1925

census had George working as a farmer in the Hempstead area of New

York. George died on 15 August, 1946. Jennie died on 19 November, 1925.

George and Jennie are buried at the Greenfield Cemetery, Uniondale New

York. George and Jennie had three sons and three daughters together.

iii: William Kinsey was born on 15 September, 1872. William married

Katherine Augusta Lindner in c.1896. Katherine was born on 13 December,

1872. In 1900 and 1910 William was a grocery salesman and then a retail

grocer. Around 1915, William was a farmer in Springfield, New York. William

and Katherine were living on Dean Street in Hempstead New York. In 1920,

William was a machinist in a machine shop. William and Katherine were

then living in Valley Stream, New York. From 1930 to 1940 he was a

farming foreman and then a farm hand. In 1950, William was a cemetery

gardener. William died on 17 February, 1955. Katherine died on 15

November, 1951, and she is buried at the Greenfield Cemetery, Uniondale,

New York. No burial information on William. They had one daughter

together.

iv: Ellen Kinsey was born on 12 June, 1874. Ellen married Herman Utz on

24 November, 1897. Herman was born in May, 1872. Herman was

blacksmith from 1892 until 1917 when he retired from blacksmithing. The

1920 through the 1940 censuses, Herman was a farmer and was living on

the Hempstead Parkway. Ellen died in 1957. Herman died on 22 October,

1941. Ellen and Herman are buried at the Greenfield Cemetery, Uniondale,

New York. Ellen and Herman had one son and one daughter together.

v: Edward Kinsey was born on 8 January, 1876. Edward married Grace

Josephine Rhodes on 2 October, 1904. Grace was born in c.1876. Edward

and Grace lived on Henry Street in Hempstead until his death in 1943. In

1910, Edward was a dirt truck driver. 1920 he was a stoker in a factory. In

1930, Edward worked as a street laborer. Edward died on 17 November,

1943. Edward was an employee of the Hempstead Street Department.

Grace died on 24 May, 1957. Edward and Grace are buried at the

Greenfield Cemetery, Uniondale, New York. Edward and Josephine had

three sons and three daughters.

vi: David Kinsey was born on 8 May, 1880. David married Wilhelmine M.

Petersen in c.1908. Wilhelmine was born in 19 May, 1883. David and

Wilhelmine lived in the Ridgewood area of Queens, New York. In 1910

David was a bookkeeper for a Merchant Taylor. In 1920 David was a

partner in a Merchant Taylor Business. He continued in the Merchant

Taylor manufacturing business into the 1930’s. During the 1940’s, he was a

floor salesman in a retail clothing store. David died on 20 May, 1952.

Wilhelmine died on 10 October, 1971. David and Wilhelmine are buried at

the All-Faiths Cemetery, Middle Village, New York. They had a son and a

daughter together.

vii: Chester Arthur Kinsey was born on 22 September, 1882. Chester

married Harriet Stringham on 15 January, 1908. Harriet was born on 14

January, 1880. Chester and Harriet lived in Mineola, New York. In 1910

Chester was a trolley mechanic. The 1915 census list Chester as a

Superintendent in a railroad machine shop. In 1920 he was a mechanic for

a street car company. Chester was an engineer clerk in 1925. During 1930,

he was school supervisor. In April 1942, Chester was on the Board of

Education for District 10, North Hempstead. The 1950 census lists Chester

as the 1950 Superintendent of Public Schools. Chester died on 22 June,

1957. Harriet died on 24 January, 1965. Chester and Harriet had one son

and one daughter.

viii: Minnie Kinsey was born on 12 December, 1884. Minnie married Edward

Butchard on 12 February, 1905. Edward was born on 30 July, 1880. Minnie

and Edward lived in the Roslyn Heights are of Hempstead, New York. In

1915, Edward was a motorman. Edward was a superintendent mosquito

abatement in 1930. During 1940 he was an inspector for Nassau County

Sanitation and in 1942 he was in mosquito extermination. Minnie died on 26

November, 1967. Edward died on 16 November, 1955. Minnie and Edward

had one daughter together.

ix: Carry Viola Kinsey 22 December, 1886. On the 1900 census Carry Viola

was living with her mother in Hempstead, New York. No additional records

found.

x: Clara Kinsey was born in September, 1890. Clara married Charles Stattel

on 5 November, 1912. Charles was born on 15 July, 1888. The 1915

census lists Charles working as a carpenter. During 1920, Charles was a

carpenter for the railroad. In1930, he was a proprietor of kitchen materials.

Charles was a butcher in 1940. Clara died in 1975. Charles died in 1955.

Clara and Charles are buried at the Greenfield Cemetery, Uniondale, New

York. They had no children.

6: Elizabeth Kinsey was born on 2 November, 1846. Elizabeth married Andrew

Mount on 20 February, 1867. Andrew Mount was born on 29 April 1843, on a farm

in Fosters Meadow. During the civil war, Andrew was a drummer boy in the Union

Army. Andrew was a lifelong resident of Rosedale, New York. He farmed 140

acres until he retired around 1910. Elizabeth died on 9 May, 1925. Andrew died on

5 February, 1936. Elizabeth and Andrew are buried at the Old Springfield

Cemetery, Springfield Gardens, New York. Elizabeth and Andrew had one

daughter.

i: Ella Mount was born on 21 August,1875. Ella lived with her parents until

her death in 1921. Ella died on 24 June, 1921. Ella never married.

7: Margaret Kinsey was born in c.1848. Margaret was two years old on the 1850

census. She is not in her father's household in the 1860 census. No additional

information found.

8: Peter Kinsey was born on 27 September, 1850. Peter Married Catharine Muller

c.1872. From 1880 to 1910, Peter was a farmer in the Jamaica area of New York.

By 1910, Peter was retired and he and Katherine were living on Foster Meadow

Road. Peter died on 14 April, 1925. Katherine died on 21 October, 1933. Peter and

Katherine are buried at the Old Springfield Cemetery, Queens, New York. Peter

and Katherine had four daughters together.

i: Elizabeth “Libbie” F. Kinsey was born on in 1872. She went by the name,

Libbie. In 1892, she was living with her parents in Jamaica, New York. The

1900 census lists Libbie as a patient at the Long Island State Hospital at

Kings Park. Libbie died on Sunday, 13 March, 1910. She was at the hospital

for ten years when she died thirty-two years of age. She is buried at the Old

Springfield Cemetery, Springfield Gardens, New York.

ii: Alice Kinsey was born on 30 January, 1883. Alice lived with her parents in

Rosedale until her death in 1935. Alice died of scarlet fever on 12 July,

1935. Alice never married. Alice is buried at the Old Springfield Cemetery,

Springfield Gardens, New York.

iii: Lulu Kinsey was born in January, 1883. Lulu married Frank Howard Ives

on 2 July, 1913. Frank was born on 15 January, 1883. In 1920, Frank was a

union organizer. In the 1930’s and 1940’s, Frank was a radio engineer and

was in radio repairs. Lulu died on 26 March, 1961. Frank died in June, 1964.

Frank is buried at the Fresh Pond Crematory and Columbarium, Middle

Village, New York.

iv: Francis M. Kinsey was born on 25 August, 1896. Francis died in 1897.

She is buried at the Old Springfield Cemetery, Springfield Gardens, New

York.

9: Fred Kinsey was born on 5 April, 1853. Fred died in 1857 and he is buried at

the Old Springfield Cemetery, Springfield Gardens, New York. No additional

Information.

10: William Kinsey was born on 8 July, 1856. William died in 1857 and he is

buried at the Old Springfield Cemetery, Springfield Gardens, New York. No

additional information found.
